From decade-old PHP to self-sufficient development

Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is one of the world's leading film schools. They managed student film projects with two custom-built PHP applications: ePro for project planning, eDispo for equipment scheduling. Both were over ten years old. Hard to maintain. Outdated UI. The small internal dev team could keep the lights on but had no capacity for the modernization everyone knew was overdue.

100 DAYS helped Filmakademie re-implement ePro from the ground up: the central application for planning and managing student film projects. For eDispo, we helped improve the application over time. For both projects, 100 DAYS scoped the project, defined architecture and methodology, collected requirements and implemented the application together with the internal team.

One standout feature in ePro: creatives could describe their own films with a small homepage and background graphics. This feature pulled students into the application and significantly improved usage.

In addition to ePro, 100 DAYS also helped Filmakademie re-implement their application for stock-keeping and rental/return of material like cameras, lighting and other equipment. This project modernized the application, extended its reach, and optimized processes and productivity, while also integrating the system better with the renewed ePro and eDispo applications.

The knowledge gathered during the process was transferred to the internal dev team for later maintenance and further development.
